This section of the website primarily focuses on the doctoral process at the Department of Economics and Management. For those interested in starting a PhD at the department, please refer to the respective page of KHYS (Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists). PhD Guide

This guide was created many years ago and has been continually expanded and updated with your help. We hope you will also share your experiences with us and contribute to improving the page. This guide describes the common practice; legally binding is the doctoral regulations. Unfortunately, the doctoral regulations is written in German and there is no English translation. Furthermore, there are various terms in German, which are hard to translate into English. We tried our best to provide you the information in English. If there are any uncertainties, you can try to read the German site or contact us via email.

For better clarity, the guide is divided into three sections (one page each):

KHYS provides additional and general information about doctoral studies at KIT, such as the Guidelines on Doctoral Studies at KIT (in German).

Although the scientific content is the main focus of the doctoral process, formal requirements must also be adhered to. Some guidelines on this are summarized in this document (in German).
